Christmas was feeling very uncomfortable and she was running around the house looking for a place to have her babies. Though a whelping box was set up for her but she didn't want to stay in the whelping box. She kept wanting to stay in this corner of the kitchen and so we quickly laid down lots of old newspapers and fenced off the area for her.
She got very uncomfortable and started digging and pulling at the towels. Notice Minnie has been keeping a close watch?
Christmas started to have a contraction and she was pushing.
Out came something that's blackish in colour.
It was a puppy!!
Minnie was so excited!
And she stayed close throughout.
Aunty Diana helped to make sure the puppy had its first milk. (The colostrum, milk produced in the first 24 hours, is extremely important for the puppies. It carries immunities that protect the puppies from infection.)
Minnie and I helped to see that the puppy was well taken care of while Christmas delivered her next puppy.

Thank you so much for sharing these photos.
Remus and Riley were born on May 12th (just a few weeks earlier than these puppies), but since they didn't come into our lives until they were 6+ weeks old, your photos showed me how tiny they must have been.
