A Post By Aunty Diana - Tribute To Grandma

It has been a month now since Mum left us. I miss her...so very much indeed. She has been the best Mum one could have asked for. She taught us well and was a caring and loving mother to all her fourteen children. She cooked and cleaned and gave us a warm home. She has worked almost all her life to give us, her children, the best. She would have worked all her life if not for the stroke she suffered from eighteen years ago. The stroke left her paralyzed on her right and affected her speech.

I would love to write Mum a beautiful tribute but I am not good in expressing my feelings. I just want Mum to know that she has been missed and she'll always be remembered.

Mum with the latest family addition, her great grandson.
Six years ago, when Mum was stronger, we took her on a holiday to Cameron Highlands.
I just love this picture with Mum laughing happily with one of our jokes.
Three years ago, on Mum's birthday, Mum with her eight daughters and two daughters-in-law.
Mum will always be in our hearts.

I would like to thank all our blogpals for your support and kind words. We have really missed all of you and we are so sorry for not visiting. We promise we'll come visit soon.

Lot's of love,
Diana

Words right from the heart are what work best - you did very well. It is obvious from this post and from all the times you brought her into your posts how much she was loved. Wow, she had a very big family - what a great Mom!!!

This was a wonderful, heartfelt tribute. Your mum will always be with you in your heats so will never really leave you. Take time to heal - we think the puppies have been a help at this difficult time. Lots of love - JD, Max, Clare and Neil.

Diana, I have a little 'poem' I send people who have lost their mother:

'A Mother's Touch'
(by Katherine Butler Hathaway)

'Everybody knows that a good mother gives her children a feeling of trust and stability. She is the one they can count on for the things that matter most of all. She is their food and their bed and their extra blanket when it grows cold in the night; she is their warmth and health and shelter; she is the one they want to be near when they cry. She is the only person in the whole world or in a whole liftime who can be these things to her children. There is no substitute for her. Somehow even her clothes feel different to her children's hands from anybody else's clothes. Only to touch her skirt or her sleeve makes a troubled child feel better.'

Diana, when we lose our mothers, we feel like a little child. You have done well to have loved, honored and taken care of your mother. I can only pray that my own children will someday mourn and miss me like you miss your mother.

I think that was a wonderful and heartfelt tribute - and it was easy to see why your mother was so loved and admired. She will go on living in your wonderful memories of her.

Diana,

You've expressed yourself perfectly well.

It looks like your mom had a very rich and rewarding life filled with family and love. She was truly blessed because there is absolutely nothing more important in this life than our family and friends. May you and your sisters carry on her stories, memories and tradition so her spirit may live forever.

Belly rubs to all the pups and a big hug to you.

Always,
Claudia
